ISH LEADS OHIOHEALTH THROUGH A SUCCESSFUL IMPLEMENTATION OF
MCKESSON HORIZON SURGICAL APPLICATIONS AT DUBLIN METHODIST
Benefit realization included increased operational efficiency and improved quality of patient care
 
FAIRFIELD, NJ: ISH, Inc. announced today the successful completion of an implementation of McKesson Horizon Surgical Manager (HSM), Pathways Healthcare Scheduling (PHS) and McKesson Anesthesia Care (MAC) at Dublin Methodist Hospital. The initiative was undertaken to improve the quality of patient care and operational efficiency in the 40 Operating Rooms within the OhioHealth System. A successful outcome was achieved because of the project’s focus on aligning their Perioperative business requirements with their IT decisions, thus ensuring that when HSM went live it supported OhioHealth’s operational vision.

As one of the few companies that has implemented all of McKesson’s clinical applications and also has in-depth Perioperative Operations experience, ISH led key stakeholders through the process of making informed and timely decisions on standardization issues to improve operational performance.

ISH led the organization through standardization of process and data, and provided the organization with custom report writing for scheduling, revenue cycle management, pharmacy, preop, intraop, medical records, supply chain and billing. This allowed the organization access to clear, accurate information that supported optimal decision making.

By providing strong project leadership and a detailed project plan to eventually roll out surgical systems and enhanced operational processes across all the facilities, ISH was able to facilitate a smooth transition that allowed the client to achieve greater functionality from the implemented applications.

Reduced time in manual and outdated processes resulted in increased time for direct patient care, and greater physician and clinician satisfaction. Other realized benefits from the implementation included improved operational efficiency as evidenced by:

• Ability to print resource maps and conflict check instantly
• Immediate reports for turnaround and on time starts
• Improved inventory reorder based on charging
• Real time documentation of physiological monitoring
• Less repetition of documentation related to carryover of items through the pre, intra and post op phases
