ISH Leads Reading Hospital to
Successful Perioperative Go Live on Picis
West Orange, New Jersey - August 15, 2004;
ISH today announced the successful go live of
the Picis OR Manager and SmarTrak applications
at The Reading Hospital and Medical Center, West
Reading, PA. The go live is the culmination of
a strategic initiative to improve physician satisfaction
and workflow efficiency of Perioperative Services.
Reading previously engaged ISH to create a "Roadmap
to Benefits Realization" to transition the
replacement of the legacy perioperative information
system into an enterprise-wide IT-Enabled Business
Strategy for Perioperative Services. The "Roadmap"
included the creation of a future state business
model, definition of specific operational and
financial ROI, software selection, and a detailed
task and resource plan for the implementation.
The implementation included new processes and
functionality for PAT, Scheduling, ADT communication,
and the OR Supply Chain, which included an Item
Master interface to support, case costing. Also
incorporated into the project were the implementation
of a new Rules Based Scheduling process, real
time patient flow management using SmarTrak, Preference
Card build, and Custom Reporting / Information
Access. Phase II implementation will include clinical
documentation for PAT, Pre-op, Intraop, and PACU
plus optimization of a fully automated communication
process enabled by SmarTrak.

decrease in internal phone calls for add-on cases
and have their first true case costing information,”
