FOUR HEALTHCARE ORGANIZATIONS CHOOSE ISH TO LEAD CENTRAL STERILE PROCESSING IMPROVEMENT INITIATIVES
Projects will result in revenue enhancement, cost savings and improved operational efficiency

FAIRFIELD, NJ: ISH, Inc. announced today the initiation of four operational improvement initiatives in Central Sterile Processing. ISH was awarded contracts with Westchester County Medical Center, University of Arkansas Medical Sciences, Memorial Health Center, Savannah and the Regional Medical Center at Memphis. ISH was chosen as a trusted advisor, based on their broad experience in implementing both financial and operational improvements within the Sterile Processing department in hundreds of organizations.

For all four projects, the organizations called upon ISH to provide Interim Leadership in the SPD. The first phase of each initiative consists of the associate performing a thorough assessment of the department, which is then reviewed by the Perioperative Leadership Team. The Interim Director will oversee the following domains:

  • All aspects of infection control
  • Instrument Recognition
  • Set Assembly
  • Appropriate methods of sterilization
  • Supply Chain and Case Cart Management
  • Policies and Procedures
  • Quality Assurance Programs
  • Employee competencies

ISH Interim Managers work closely with administration and Perioperative Management to provide leadership, guidance, education and mentoring to members of the SPD department. Part of this process is to educate the SPD staff on best practices within SPD to ensure improved and acceptable customer service, physician satisfaction, and most importantly, quality patient care.

Overseeing daily operational activities, the Interim Manager also assures that all operational and clinical improvement initiatives are identified, working with administrative, surgical, materials management and clinical leadership to provide integrated quality by integrating clinical, operational and information related processes.

According to Carol Reilly, Senior Vice President of Clinical Services for ISH, “Typically our Interim Leadership projects result in the identification of approximately $100,000 in savings to be recognized over a two-year period, as well as in increased efficiency and staff and clinician satisfaction.”
