Dear
John:
This
letter is long overdue. It has been approximately
five months since
St. Anthony’s has gone live on the SIS product.
According to the people at SIS, St. Anthony’s
set a record by successfully going live with so
much of the product suite in a seven month period:
Went live on all nursing documentation modules
(PAT, PreOp, IntraOp, PACU), as well as the base
SIS scheduling product Built, tested, and went
live on three interfaces (ADT, Item Master, Charging)
Adopted recommended industry-standard nomenclature
and revamped the material item file in our McKesson
PMM system consisting of over 24,000 items Rewrote
some 3,300 physician preference cards
Without
question the number one reason we accomplished
so much so quickly is Karen Liniman. Being in
the fortunate position of having worked with Karen
on back-to-back implementations of SIS at two
different hospitals, I believe I am uniquely qualified
to speak to the attributes Karen brought forth
as our project manager.
First
and foremost I trust Karen. While her clinical
knowledge, project management experience, and
understanding of SIS are second to none, what
separates Karen is her pragmatic approach. Karen’s
ability to gain the trust and confidence of OR
personnel was a necessity at both St. John’s
in Springfield as well as here at SAMC.
In
addition, Karen truly cares. Karen exhibits a
work-ethic and level of commitment that motivates
others and, frankly, is not all that common among
consultants. Often times consultants can get too
one-sided with either process or content; in both
engagements I have worked with Karen, she clearly
and effectively balanced both.
In
closing, you have a gem in Karen; I am fortunate
and gracious to have had her successfully lead
my first significant project at SAMC.
Happy
Holidays.
Sincerely,
Gordon Lashmett
